Combigan [Brimonidine and Timolol Ophthalmic] is a prescription eye drop that is used in the treatment of glaucoma and ocular hypertension, a condition that creates high pressure inside the eyes. Brimonidine belongs to the group of drugs known as alpha – agonists. It works by reducing the pressure in the eyes by reducing the amount of fluid present. Timolol on the other hand is a beta blocker. This medicated eye drop may also be used for purposes other than the ones mentioned here.

Combigan [Brimonidine and Timolol Ophthalmic] is an eye drop and it should be administered according to the doctor’s advice. It is important that the patient washes his hands before application. The head must be tilted back slightly and the lower lid of the eye pulled down. The dropper that comes along with the eye drop must be held above the eye with the tip down. A drop should be squeezed out onto the eye and the eye closed thereafter. The corner of the eyes near the nose is then to be pressed gently with a finger for a minute in order to prevent the eye drop from getting out.

Care must be taken to see that the dropper tip does not touch any surface, including the patient’s hands or eyes. This will prevent contamination of any kind. The eye drop should not be used while the patient is still wearing contact lenses.
